1 Kings 4:29 God gave Solomon wisdom and very great insight, and a breadth of understanding as measureless as the sand on the seashore.
Lord, I ask that You give me wisdom and insight as measureless as the sand on the seashore. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Luke 15:20 So he got up and went to his father.
Returning to the Father requires a determined step; first steps are often hard.

1 Kings 3:9 So give your servant a discerning heart to govern your people and to distinguish between right and wrong. For who is able to govern this great people of yours?”

Luke 15:18 I will set out and go back to my father and say to him: Father, I have sinned against heaven and against you.
Repentance requires an “I will” determination.

1 Kings 2:1-3 When the time drew near for David to die, he gave a charge to Solomon his son. “I am about to go the way of all the earth,” he said. “So be strong, act like a man, and observe what the Lord your God requires: Walk in obedience to him, and keep his decrees and commands, his laws and regulations, as written in the Law of Moses. Do this so that you may prosper in all you do and wherever you go
David had seen what happened when he did and did not follow God’s commands. This wisdom was the first and of most importance that he passed on to his child. May I do the same for my child.

1 Kings 1:51-53 Then Solomon was told, “Adonijah is afraid of King Solomon and is clinging to the horns of the altar. He says, ‘Let King Solomon swear to me today that he will not put his servant to death with the sword.’” Solomon replied, “If he shows himself to be worthy, not a hair of his head will fall to the ground; but if evil is found in him, he will die.” Then King Solomon sent men, and they brought him down from the altar. And Adonijah came and bowed down to King Solomon, and Solomon said, “Go to your home.”
I need to remember to show others mercy despite what they do to me.

Luke 15:17 “When he finally came to his senses, he said, ‘How many of my father’s hired servants have food to spare, and here I am starving to death!'”
May the prodigals that I know and love “come to their senses.” Work in their hearts, dear Lord.

2 Samuel 24:10 David was conscience-stricken after he had counted the fighting men, and he said to the Lord, “I have sinned greatly in what I have done. Now, Lord, I beg you, take away the guilt of your servant. I have done a very foolish thing.”
Sometimes, the consequences of our sin only reaches our conscience when we have counted the cost. Lord, may I not sin against You, so that I may not have to suffer the cost of my transgressions.

Luke 15:16 He longed to fill his stomach with the pods that the pigs were eating, but no one gave him anything.
Separation from the Father’s presence causes me to have unhealthy desires. May I desire Christ and His righteousness!

2 Samuel 22:31 “As for God, his way is perfect:The Lord’s word is flawless; he shields all who take refuge in him.
May I never forget that the Lord’s way is perfect.
