Romans 8:5-7 Those who live according to the flesh have their minds set on what the flesh desires; but those who live in accordance with the Spirit have their minds set on what the Spirit desires. The mind governed by the flesh is death, but the mind governed by the Spirit is life and peace. The mind governed by the flesh is hostile to God; it does not submit to God’s law, nor can it do so.

We can choose what we set our minds to. If we make wrong choices, we can be hostile to God. Lord, help me to keep my mind always focused on You.

Romans 13:12 The night is nearly over; the day is almost here. So let us put aside the deeds of darkness and put on the armor of light.

God’s Word is a light that serves as protective armor. This is why it is important to be in His Word every day.

Romans 7:21-23 So I find this law at work: Although I want to do good, evil is right there with me. For in my inner being I delight in God’s law; but I see another law at work in me, waging war against the law of my mind and making me a prisoner of the law of sin at work within me.

Until I am in Heaven with God, I will have a constant struggle against sin. Lord, help me to continuously obey You and resist temptation.

Romans 13:11 And do this, understanding the present time: The hour has already come for you to wake up from your slumber, because our salvation is nearer now than when we first believed.

We are one day closer to God’s next miracle in our lives. Amen!

Romans 6:12 Therefore do not let sin reign in your mortal body so that you obey its evil desires.

Father, help me to resist temptation to sin and keep it from ruling over me. Thank You for Your grace that has set me free from the chains of sin!

Romans 5:3-5 Not only so, but we also glory in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; perseverance, character; and character, hope. And hope does not put us to shame, because God’s love has been poured out into our hearts through the Holy Spirit, who has been given to us.

Suffering ultimately leads to hope. Our sinful actions may be the cause of the suffering, but the resulting hope has no shame because we have been cleansed by the blood of our Savior!

Romans 12:19 Do not take revenge, my dear friends, but leave room for God’s wrath, for it is written: “It is mine to avenge; I will repay,” says the Lord.

Personal vengeance neutralizes God’s discipline in others’ lives. Lord, may I entrust offenders to You.

Romans 4:19-21 Without weakening in his faith, he faced the fact that his body was as good as dead—since he was about a hundred years old—and that Sarah’s womb was also dead. Yet he did not waver through unbelief regarding the promise of God, but was strengthened in his faith and gave glory to God, being fully persuaded that God had power to do what he had promised.

Father, give me faith as strong as Abraham; that my faith would be unwavering in the midst of trials, hardship, and disbelief.
