What a wretched man I am! Who will rescue me from this body that is subject to death? Thanks be to God, who delivers me through Jesus Christ our Lord! So then, I myself in my mind am a slave to God’s law, but in my sinful nature a slave to the law of sin.
Romans 7:24-25//

Lord, I am a wretched sinner! Help me to not do the things sin wants me to do. And thank You for rescuing me from the grave.

Therefore God gave them over in the sinful desires of their hearts to sexual impurity for the degrading of their bodies with one another. They exchanged the truth about God for a lie, and worshiped and served created things rather than the Creator—who is forever praised. Amen.

Those who don’t repent and continue to have sex outside of marriage between a man and a woman have been given over to their sinful desires, as they worship the human body and idolize pleasure over God. Lord, help me to never exchange You for this lie.

They arranged to meet Paul on a certain day, and came in even larger numbers to the place where he was staying. He witnessed to them from morning till evening, explaining about the kingdom of God, and from the Law of Moses and from the Prophets he tried to persuade them about Jesus. Some were convinced by what he said, but others would not believe.
Acts 28:23-24//

Some believe, “but others would not.” Unfortunately, there is a consistent theme in the New Testament where some choose not to believe.

After they had gone a long time without food, Paul stood up before them and said: “Men, you should have taken my advice not to sail from Crete; then you would have spared yourselves this damage and loss.
Acts 27:21//

In the midst of a disastrous and dangerous life-threatening situation, Paul stands up as a prisoner and says, “I told you so.” This underscores the boldness of his personality, but also establishes that his advice is often correct, including his persuasiveness regarding following Christ.
