The king said to me, “What is it you want?” Then I prayed to the God of heaven, and I answered the king, “If it pleases the king and if your servant has found favor in his sight, let him send me to the city in Judah where my ancestors are buried so that I can rebuild it.”
Nehemiah 2:4-5//

Prayers are sometimes spurred on by our circumstances and answered in a quick and unexpected manner.

They said to me, “Those who survived the exile and are back in the province are in great trouble and disgrace. The wall of Jerusalem is broken down, and its gates have been burned with fire. ”
Nehemiah 1:3//

If the city of God’s people can be destroyed because they strayed from His ways, I should not be surprised what happens to America next.

But let people and animals be covered with sackcloth. Let everyone call urgently on God. Let them give up their evil ways and their violence. Who knows? God may yet relent and with compassion turn from his fierce anger so that we will not perish.”
Jonah 3:8-9//

The difference between Nineveh and Seattle is that, when told, Nineveh recognized what they were doing was evil and repented. Seattle neither recognizes its evil ways nor repents.

But he said to me, “Don’t do that! I am a fellow servant with you and with your brothers and sisters who hold to the testimony of Jesus. Worship God! For it is the Spirit of prophecy who bears testimony to Jesus.”
Revelation 19:9-10//

Apparently, it is in our nature to worship beings that appear to be like or close to God. We must be careful to reserve worship to God only.
