If I had cherished sin in my heart, the Lord would not have listened; but God has surely listened and has heard my prayer.

You answer us with awesome and righteous deeds, God our Savior, the hope of all the ends of the earth and of the farthest seas,

Our hope is renewed with awesome deeds, such as the forgiveness of our sin through Jesus Christ.

You, God, are my God, earnestly I seek you; I thirst for you, my whole being longs for you, in a dry and parched land where there is no water.
Psalm 63:1//

Lord, thank You for bringing me home from a dry land. We praise You!

Trust in him at all times, you people; pour out your hearts to him, for God is our refuge.

Part of trusting in God is being vulnerable and sharing our innermost thoughts.

For you have been my refuge, a strong tower against the foe.
Psalm 61:3//

When the enemy attacks, God is our tower to rise above what the enemy tries to throw our way.

Give us aid against the enemy, for human help is worthless.
Psalm 60:11//

We can glean from this passage that the enemy is stronger than man. But with the Lord’s help, we can overcome.

You are my strength, I watch for you; you, God, are my fortress, my God on whom I can rely. God will go before me and will let me gloat over those who slander me.
Psalm 59:9-10//

God will go before me providing strength and unstoppable reliability.

Then people will say, “Surely the righteous still are rewarded; surely there is a God who judges the earth.”
Psalm 58:11//

This is what David says will happen when God judges wicked rulers. May this be true in our day too.

Have mercy on me, my God, have mercy on me, for in you I take refuge. I will take refuge in the shadow of your wings until the disaster has passed.
Psalm 57:1//

I often need reminded that we can take refuge in God “until the disaster has passed.”
