1 John 2:15 Do not love the world or anything in the world. If anyone loves the world, love for the Father is not in them.

I have a limited capacity to love. If I love the world I spend down my capacity to love God. 

1 John 2:17whoever does the will of God lives forever.

May I fulfill Your destiny for my life, O God.  

2 Timothy 4:2 Preach the word; be prepared in season and out of season; correct, rebuke and encourage—with great patience and careful instruction.

Lord, teach me, use me, and give me great wisdom.

1 John 2:9 Anyone who claims to be in the light but hates a brother or sister is still in the darkness.

My attitude toward others is a key indicator of where I am spiritually. 

1 Timothy 4:1 The Spirit clearly says that in later times some will abandon the faith and follow deceiving spirits and things taught by demons.

Apparently, demons are not simply passive. They put forth effort to “teach” godless things. Lord, may I not be deceived by demons or people, and may I never fall away from the faith.

1 John 1:1 That which was from the beginning, which we have heard, which we have seen with our eyes, which we have looked at and our hands have touched—this we proclaim concerning the Word of life.

Eyewitnesses establish the physical reality of Jesus. Lord, may You become more real to me each day. 

1 Thessalonians 1:6 You became imitators of us and of the Lord, for you welcomed the message in the midst of severe suffering with the joy given by the Holy Spirit.

Do I welcome God into my life in the midst of severe physical and emotional suffering? Father, help me to always remember that You provide peace that transcends all understanding.

Colossians 3:12-14 Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience. Bear with each other and forgive one another if any of you has a grievance against someone. Forgive as the Lord forgave you. And over all these virtues put on love, which binds them all together in perfect unity.

Lord, help me to have all these virtues, to forgive, and to love like Christ.

1 Timothy 6:16 God alone is immortal and who lives in unapproachable light, whom no one has seen or can see. To him be honor and might forever. Amen.

May my understanding of God’s attributes lead me to praise as it did Paul. 

Philippians 4:6-7 Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

May I continually recognize that prayer = peace.
