Luke 15:28 The older brother became angry and refused to go in.
Older brothers don’t forgive, stay mad, and refuse to reconcile/restore. May I not be an “older brother.”

1 Kings 10:8 How happy your people must be! How happy your officials, who continually stand before you and hear your wisdom!
Wisdom from the Lord will make those around me happy. Lord, give me great wisdom.

1 Kings 9:4 “As for you, if you walk before me faithfully with integrity of heart and uprightness, as David your father did, and do all I command and observe my decrees and laws,
Interestingly, after David slept with the wife of one of his friends and sent him off to be slaughtered in war, God still says he has integrity and an upright heart. Such is the power of forgiveness when we repent and walk in His ways.

Luke 15:22 But the father said to his servants, ‘Quick! Bring the best robe and put it on him.’
Notice the first word: “Quick.” We should be speedy, not reluctant, in reaching out to those who confess and repent.

1 Kings 8:17-19 “My father David had it in his heart to build a temple for the Name of the Lord, the God of Israel. But the Lord said to my father David, ‘You did well to have it in your heart to build a temple for my Name. Nevertheless, you are not the one to build the temple, but your son, your own flesh and blood—he is the one who will build the temple for my Name.’
There will be things in my heart that I want to do for the Lord, but some of these things are destined to be fulfilled not by me, but will instead be done by my children.

1 Kings 6:38 In the eleventh year in the month of Bul, the eighth month, the temple was finished in all its details according to its specifications. He had spent seven years building it.
The Lord’s work is not something we can do quickly. It takes time and perseverance. Lord, help me to do Your will today, tomorrow, and for many years to come. Give me the power to persevere.

1 Kings 5:12 The Lord gave Solomon wisdom, just as he had promised him. There were peaceful relations between Hiram and Solomon, and the two of them made a treaty.
Thank You, Lord, for keeping Your promises!

Luke 15:20 “But while he was still a long way off, his father saw him and was filled with compassion for him…”
“Filled” means “was controlled by” in the original language. Am I controlled by compassion when others sin, especially when their sin affects me personally?
