Blessed is the one who does not walk in step with the wicked or stand in the way that sinners take or sit in the company of mockers,
Psalm 1:1//
Doing anything in the way of sin may seem like an easy path, but it leads to destruction.
Blessed is the one who does not walk in step with the wicked or stand in the way that sinners take or sit in the company of mockers,
Psalm 1:1//
Doing anything in the way of sin may seem like an easy path, but it leads to destruction.
After Job had prayed for his friends, the Lord restored his fortunes and gave him twice as much as he had before. All his brothers and sisters and everyone who had known him before came and ate with him in his house. They comforted and consoled him over all the trouble the Lord had brought on him, and each one gave him a piece of silver and a gold ring.
Job 42:10-11//
Friends and family are a blessing from the Lord.
“Can you pull in Leviathan with a fishhook or tie down its tongue with a rope?
Job 41:1//
I can’t even control one animal, let alone all of nature. And yet, we dare to question God when things don’t go our way.
Then the Lord spoke to Job out of the storm:
Job 40:6//
This is the second time we see God talks to Job “out of the storm”. I need to remember that when things are difficult in my life is when God is very likely to speak truth to me.
“Will the wild ox consent to serve you? Will it stay by your manger at night?
Job 39:9//
I know so little about creation and it certainly does not obey me. I need to remember that God knows all and He has reasons for His ways both in creation as well as in my life.
“What is the way to the abode of light? And where does darkness reside? Can you take them to their places? Do you know the paths to their dwellings? Surely you know, for you were already born! You have lived so many years!
Job 38:19-21//
I need to remember that God knows more than me and thus, know what is best for me.
God’s voice thunders in marvelous ways; he does great things beyond our understanding.
Job 37:5//
Lord, I pray You are working beyond my understanding right now.
But those who suffer he delivers in their suffering; he speaks to them in their affliction. “He is wooing you from the jaws of distress to a spacious place free from restriction, to the comfort of your table laden with choice food.
Job 36:15-16//
Lord, lead me soon to a place free from restriction.
“Do you think this is just? You say, ‘I am in the right, not God.’ Yet you ask him, ‘What profit is it to me, and what do I gain by not sinning?’
Job 35:2-3//
An excellent question and an ironic contradiction/paradox that I all too often have found myself in. Lord, grant me discernment and help me to be obedient.
Let us discern for ourselves what is right; let us learn together what is good.
Job 34:4//
Lord, grant me great discernment.
