The Lord can change the attitude of the wicked to do His will and help His people.

But Zerubbabel, Joshua and the rest of the heads of the families of Israel answered, “You have no part with us in building a temple to our God. We alone will build it for the Lord, the God of Israel, as King Cyrus, the king of Persia, commanded us.” Then the peoples around them set out to discourage the people of Judah and make them afraid to go on building.

I need to be discerning in the people I ally myself with.

Furthermore, Josiah got rid of the mediums and spiritists, the household gods, the idols and all the other detestable things seen in Judah and Jerusalem. This he did to fulfill the requirements of the law written in the book that Hilkiah the priest had discovered in the temple of the Lord.

Part of my obedience to the Lord is ridding my life of things and people that attempt to separate me from Him.

Lack of obedience to God’s word is as old as the beginning of humanity and continues to this day.

Manasseh was twelve years old when he became king, and he reigned in Jerusalem fifty-five years. His mother’s name was Hephzibah. He did evil in the eyes of the Lord, following the detestable practices of the nations the Lord had driven out before the Israelites.

Fifty-five years is such a long time for the Lord to be patient with an evil-doer. I praise Him for being patient with me.
