1 Thessalonians So then, let us not be like others, who are asleep, but let us be awake and sober.//

Genesis 8:3 The water receded steadily from the earth. At the end of the hundred and fifty days the water had gone down,//
While it only rained for 40 days and 40 nights, the water remained for 150 days. I forget that it may time for the Lord to work and heal.

Genesis 7:16 The animals going in were male and female of every living thing, as God had commanded Noah. Then the Lord shut him in.//
Note that it is the Lord who closes the ark. Sometimes God puts us in small places with only those close to us to protect us.

Genesis 6:6 The Lord regretted that he had made human beings on the earth, and his heart was deeply troubled.//
An all-loving and all-knowing God that regrets what He did. I am reminded that I cannot understand God or His ways.

Genesis 5:3-5 When Adam had lived 130 years, he had a son in his own likeness, in his own image; and he named him Seth. After Seth was born, Adam lived 800 years and had other sons and daughters. Altogether, Adam lived a total of 930 years, and then he died.//
Throughout the entire chapter, the lives of men are known for their children. Not one of them is remembered for their careers; only their children and and their children’s children.

Genesis 4:7 If you do what is right, will you not be accepted? But if you do not do what is right, sin is crouching at your door; it desires to have you, but you must rule over it.”//
To push sin out of our lives, we must rule over it.

Luke 9:62 Jesus replied, “No one who puts a hand to the plow and looks back is fit for service in the kingdom of God.”
We are to be forward thinking and not focus on the past. Help me, Father, to have Your perspective.

Revelation 6:11a Then each of them was given a white robe, and they were told to wait a little longer. . .
I need to remember to be patient and that the Lord will finish His work in His time.

Luke 9:61 Still another man said, “I will follow you, Lord; but first let me go back and say goodbye to my family.”
How easy it is to qualify our commitment. “I will follow you, Lord, but…” May I follow Christ without reservation!

Revelation 5:13 Then I heard every creature in heaven and on earth and under the earth and on the sea, and all that is in them, saying: “To him who sits on the throne and to the Lamb be praise and honor and glory and power, for ever and ever!”
There will be a day when all creatures great and small worship the Lord our God. Lord, come soon!
