Luke 4:42-43 At daybreak, Jesus went out to a solitary place. The people were looking for him and when they came to where he was, they tried to keep him from leaving them. But he said, “I must proclaim the good news of the kingdom of God to the other towns also, because that is why I was sent.”
I selfishly want Jesus to do what I want Him to do. But often His agenda is much different.
Colossians 1:9-10 For this reason, since the day we heard about you, we have not stopped praying for you. We continually ask God to fill you with the knowledge of his will through all the wisdom and understanding that the Spirit gives, so that you may live a life worthy of the Lord and please him in every way: bearing fruit in every good work, growing in the knowledge of God,
Praying for others helps keep fellow believers strong and fills them with the knowledge and wisdom of our Father. Lord, help me to pray for fellow believers.
Luke 4:38 Jesus left the synagogue and went to the home of Simon. Now Simon’s mother-in-law was suffering from a high fever, and they asked Jesus to help her.
I need to ask Jesus to help other people. Reminder: pray for others!
Philippians 4:5 Let your gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is near.
You ARE near…may I never forget that when I need Your grace to be gentle to others.
Luke 4:32 They were amazed at his teaching, because his words had authority.
Help me, Lord, to remember that Your words are not just spiritual advice but authoritative power!
Philippians 3:20-21 But our citizenship is in heaven. And we eagerly await a Savior from there, the Lord Jesus Christ, who, by the power that enables him to bring everything under his control, will transform our lowly bodies so that they will be like his glorious body.
Thank You, Lord, that You will make me perfect like You some day!
Luke 4:18 “The Spirit of the Lord is on me…”
O Lord, please anoint me with Your Spirit.
Philippians 2:3-4 Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves, not looking to your own interests but each of you to the interests of the others.
Help me to place the needs of others before my own, Father. Make me selfless.
Luke 4:14 Jesus returned to Galilee in the power of the Spirit.
Victory over temptation gives us renewed spiritual power.
Philippians 1:9-10 And this is my prayer: that your love may abound more and more in knowledge and depth of insight, so that you may be able to discern what is best and may be pure and blameless for the day of Christ,
Apparently, love, knowledge, insight, and discernment are all linked closely together. Father, please make me strong in these areas.
