For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all. So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen, since what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.

Lord, remind me that the troubles of this life are momentary and that I need to focus on You; not on my troubles.

The punishment inflicted on him by the majority is sufficient. Now instead, you ought to forgive and comfort him, so that he will not be overwhelmed by excessive sorrow.

Punishment for sins in the church is acceptable, but there is a limit. If we do not forgive and love that person, they will be taken to a very dark place where it is hard to feel the power of grace.

We are comforted so that we can comfort others. Thus, we must endure troubles to experience God’s comfort so that we can share God’s comfort when others face trials.

1 Corinthians 15:6//

Christ appeared to 500 people “at the same time.” Is it really possible that all 500 people could lie about the same event at the exact same time? Note that some have “fallen asleep,” meaning some went to the grave bearing this truth to others.
