They claim to know God, but by their actions they deny him. They are detestable, disobedient and unfit for doing anything good.

There are people who will claim to be Christians, but their actions actively deny that they know Him.

Isaiah 5:21 Woe to those who are wise in their own eyes and clever in their own sight.//

Deliver me from self-sufficiency, Lord!

Preach the word; be prepared in season and out of season; correct, rebuke and encourage —with great patience and careful instruction.
2 Timothy 4:2//

Lord, grant me the wisdom to be patient when correcting and rebuking. May I provide even more encouragement to help my fellow brothers and sisters.

Isaiah 5:20 Woe to those who call evil good and good evil, who put darkness for light and light for darkness, who put bitter for sweet and sweet for bitter.//

May I have a healthy fear of sin and a disdain For compromise.

But mark this: There will be terrible times in the last days. People will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boastful, proud, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, without love, unforgiving, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not lovers of the good, treacherous, rash, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God— having a form of godliness but denying its power. Have nothing to do with such people.

And the Lord’s servant must not be quarrelsome but must be kind to everyone, able to teach, not resentful.
2 Timothy 2:24//

Lord, grant me a kind, peaceful, and gentle spirit.

I thank God, whom I serve, as my ancestors did, with a clear conscience, as night and day I constantly remember you in my prayers.
2 Timothy 1:3//

Just because I am a sinner does not mean I cannot have a clear conscience.

they are conceited and understand nothing. They have an unhealthy interest in controversies and quarrels about words that result in envy, strife, malicious talk, evil suspicions and constant friction between people of corrupt mind, who have been robbed of the truth and who think that godliness is a means to financial gain.
1 Timothy 6:4-5//

Lord, keep me from being this type of person.

The Lord Almighty has a day in store…//

Because God can see the future, He had certain “days” in store for judgement, blessing, restoration, healing, and salvation. I need to pray and wait for the appointed timetable that God has.

The sins of some are obvious, reaching the place of judgment ahead of them; the sins of others trail behind them. In the same way, good deeds are obvious, and even those that are not obvious cannot remain hidden forever.
1 Timothy 5:24-25//

Be sure your sins will find you out. But, so will your good deeds. May my sin become less and my good deeds increase out of love.
