Interesting that Paul uses the plural of “trouble” for people who get married versus the singular of it that Jesus uses in John 16:33.

I say this to shame you. Is it possible that there is nobody among you wise enough to judge a dispute between believers?

Some would claim we are not supposed to judge others. This is true for eternal judgment, but Paul clearly articulates evidence to shame member of the Body. Lord, thank You for those in my life who have shamed me for sin, so that I may become closer to You.

It is actually reported that there is sexual immorality among you, and of a kind that even pagans do not tolerate: A man is sleeping with his father’s wife. And you are proud! Shouldn’t you rather have gone into mourning and have put out of your fellowship the man who has been doing this?

Pride in sexuality immorality is not a new concept.

We work hard with our own hands. When we are cursed, we bless; when we are persecuted, we endure it; when we are slandered, we answer kindly. We have become the scum of the earth, the garbage of the world—right up to this moment.
