Nevertheless, when we are judged in this way by the Lord, we are being disciplined so that we will not be finally condemned with the world.
1 Corinthians 11:32//
Godly discipline keeps me on the righteous path.
Nevertheless, when we are judged in this way by the Lord, we are being disciplined so that we will not be finally condemned with the world.
1 Corinthians 11:32//
Godly discipline keeps me on the righteous path.
Now these things occurred as examples to keep us from setting our hearts on evil things as they did. Do not be idolaters, as some of them were; as it is written: “The people sat down to eat and drink and got up to indulge in revelry.” We should not commit sexual immorality, as some of them did—and in one day twenty-three thousand of them died.
1 Corinthians 10:6-8//
People of the past and even people of the present remind us that we should obey God’s commands. For the unsaved are doomed to death.
Though I am free and belong to no one, I have made myself a slave to everyone, to win as many as possible.
1 Corinthians 9:19//
Lord, help me to serve others in a way that presents You to them.
Now about food sacrificed to idols: We know that “We all possess knowledge.” But knowledge puffs up while love builds up.
1 Corinthians 8:1//
It is better to love one another than to attempt to impress others with knowledge.
But if you do marry, you have not sinned; and if a virgin marries, she has not sinned. But those who marry will face many troubles in this life, and I want to spare you this.
1 Corinthians 7:28//
Interesting that Paul uses the plural of “trouble” for people who get married versus the singular of it that Jesus uses in John 16:33.
I say this to shame you. Is it possible that there is nobody among you wise enough to judge a dispute between believers?
1 Corinthians 6:5//
Some would claim we are not supposed to judge others. This is true for eternal judgment, but Paul clearly articulates evidence to shame member of the Body. Lord, thank You for those in my life who have shamed me for sin, so that I may become closer to You.
It is actually reported that there is sexual immorality among you, and of a kind that even pagans do not tolerate: A man is sleeping with his father’s wife. And you are proud! Shouldn’t you rather have gone into mourning and have put out of your fellowship the man who has been doing this?
1 Corinthians 5:1-2//
Pride in sexuality immorality is not a new concept.
We work hard with our own hands. When we are cursed, we bless; when we are persecuted, we endure it; when we are slandered, we answer kindly. We have become the scum of the earth, the garbage of the world—right up to this moment.
1 Corinthians 4:12-13//
Lord, grant me the ability to endure persecution and respond as You want me to.
If it is burned up, the builder will suffer loss but yet will be saved—even though only as one escaping through the flames.
1 Corinthians 3:15//
Biblical evidence that some who are saved will just barely make the cut.
for, “Who has known the mind of the Lord so as to instruct him?” But we have the mind of Christ.
1 Corinthians 2:16//
I cannot teach the Lord anything and yet, sometimes I question His actions. Lord, help me to be more trusting of You.
