1 Kings 8:17-19 “My father David had it in his heart to build a temple for the Name of the Lord, the God of Israel. But the Lord said to my father David, ‘You did well to have it in your heart to build a temple for my Name. Nevertheless, you are not the one to build the temple, but your son, your own flesh and blood—he is the one who will build the temple for my Name.’
There will be things in my heart that I want to do for the Lord, but some of these things are destined to be fulfilled not by me, but will instead be done by my children.

Confession requires humility and paves the way for forgiveness.

Notice the first word: “Quick.” We should be speedy, not reluctant, in reaching out to those who confess and repent.

1 Kings 6:38 In the eleventh year in the month of Bul, the eighth month, the temple was finished in all its details according to its specifications. He had spent seven years building it.
The Lord’s work is not something we can do quickly. It takes time and perseverance. Lord, help me to do Your will today, tomorrow, and for many years to come. Give me the power to persevere.

“Filled” means “was controlled by” in the original language. Am I controlled by compassion when others sin, especially when their sin affects me personally?
