Luke 18:34 The disciples did not understand any of this. Its meaning was hidden from them, and they did not know what he was talking about.

God does not ask me to totally understand what He says or what He is doing. He asks me to trust Him. 

Luke 18:27 Jesus replied, “What is impossible with man is possible with God.”
God specializes in the impossible. What “impossibles” am I facing? Do I believe God can do it?

Proverbs 11:2 When pride comes, then comes disgrace, but with humility comes wisdom.

Wisdom will come when I am a humble person.

Proverbs 10:19 Sin is not ended by multiplying words, but the prudent hold their tongues.

Father, help me to know when to be silent.

Proverbs 10:12 Hatred stirs up conflict, but love covers over all wrongs.

May I always love instead of hate.

Luke 18:22-23 When Jesus heard this, he said to him, “You still lack one thing. Sell everything you have and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven. Then come, follow me.” When he heard this, he became very sad, because he was very wealthy.

Following Jesus comes at a price. What am I willing to give up to follow the Lord?

Proverbs 9:1-2 Wisdom has built her house; she has set up its seven pillars. She has prepared her meat and mixed her wine; she has also set her table.

Wisdom takes time to build. It also takes preparation, planning, and service.

Luke 18:18 A certain ruler asked him, “Good teacher, what must I do to inherit eternal life?”

Salvation is not by my “doing” but by what He has “done.” 

Proverbs 8:14 Counsel and sound judgment are mine; I have insight, I have power.

Wisdom will counsel me and lead me to proper decision making. Lord, grant me great wisdom!

Luke 18:17 Truly I tell you, anyone who will not receive the kingdom of God like a little child will never enter it.”

Like a child may I be trusting, dependent, and innocent.
