Sometimes, we need to wait to move forward until God calls us, even if we think the storm is over.
And after the seven days the floodwaters came on the earth.
Genesis 7:10//
Seven days to create the universe. Seven days to load the few people and animals that would be saved.
The Lord regretted that he had made human beings on the earth, and his heart was deeply troubled.
Genesis 6:6//
If the Lord can have regrets and be troubled, then I am in good company.
If you do what is right, will you not be accepted? But if you do not do what is right, sin is crouching at your door; it desires to have you, but you must rule over it. ”
Genesis 4:7//
In order to keep sin from controlling me, I must “rule over it” by living according to God’s ways.
And the Lord God said, “The man has now become like one of us, knowing good and evil. He must not be allowed to reach out his hand and take also from the tree of life and eat, and live forever.”
Genesis 3:22//
Even after the first original sin, God cared enough about us to ensure we would not live forever as sinful beings.
Isaiah 26:9 When your judgments come upon the earth, the people of the world learn righteousness.//
God’s discipline teaches obedience.
And God said, “Let there be a vault between the waters to separate water from water.” So God made the vault and separated the water under the vault from the water above it. And it was so. God called the vault “sky.” And there was evening, and there was morning —the second day.
Genesis 1:6-8//
Isn’t it interesting that without specific scientific knowledge that the Biblical narrator knew that there is water in the atmosphere that had been separate from water in the seas? Clearly, God created the Earth.
The woman said to the serpent, “We may eat fruit from the trees in the garden, but God did say, ‘You must not eat fruit from the tree that is in the middle of the garden, and you must not touch it, or you will die.’”
Genesis 3:2-3//
God never said, “do not touch it.” When I do not listen to God, I am more likely to sin.
Isaiah 26:8
Yes, Lord, walking in the way of your laws, we wait for you.//
As I walk in obedience I will have a greater capacity for patience in the Lords timing.
When calamity comes, the wicked are brought down, but even in death the righteous seek refuge in God.
Proverbs 14:32//
The Lord is my refuge in the midst of tragedy, hardship, and even death.
