Why do the nations say, “Where is their God?” Our God is in heaven; he does whatever pleases him. But their idols are silver and gold, made by human hands. They have mouths, but cannot speak, eyes, but cannot see. They have ears, but cannot hear, noses, but cannot smell. They have hands, but cannot feel, feet, but cannot walk, nor can they utter a sound with their throats. Those who make them will be like them, and so will all who trust in them.

I often find myself asking, “Where is God?” just as the world does. Lord, grant me ears to hear and eyes to see. Let me trust You and not in man made idols.

Surely the righteous will never be shaken; they will be remembered forever. They will have no fear of bad news; their hearts are steadfast, trusting in the Lord. Their hearts are secure, they will have no fear; in the end they will look in triumph on their foes.

Is my heart fearless and steadfast? My response to bad news is an indicator of how much trust I have placed in the Lord.

The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom; all who follow his precepts have good understanding. To him belongs eternal praise.
Psalm 111:10//

Lord, grant me wisdom and the determination to follow Your ways.

The Lord is at your right hand; he will crush kings on the day of his wrath. He will judge the nations, heaping up the dead and crushing the rulers of the whole earth.

Despite what happens in any government around the world today, this week, and in the future, God is the one who is in control and will hold all accountable.

My God, whom I praise, do not remain silent, for people who are wicked and deceitful have opened their mouths against me; they have spoken against me with lying tongues. With words of hatred they surround me; they attack me without cause. In return for my friendship they accuse me, but I am a man of prayer.
Psalm 109:1-4//

Lord, grant me a heart to be a man of prayer rather than a sinful accuser.

My heart, O God, is steadfast; I will sing and make music with all my soul. Awake, harp and lyre! I will awaken the dawn. I will praise you, Lord, among the nations; I will sing of you among the peoples.

Part of being able to praise God among the nations and people consistently requires me to have a steadfast heart rooted in God and and His faithfulness.

Then they cried to the Lord in their trouble, and he saved them from their distress.
Psalm 107:19//

Twice in 10 verses we see the Lord save those who cry out to Him. A great reminder that the Lord forgives and the Lord saves when we turn back to Him.

Save us, Lord our God, and gather us from the nations, that we may give thanks to your holy name and glory in your praise.
Psalm 106:47//

As freedom in America crumbles, Lord save us from the nations.

Glory in his holy name; let the hearts of those who seek the Lord rejoice. Look to the Lord and his strength; seek his face always.
Psalm 105:3-4//

Do I look to the Lord for strength or to a flag built by fallen man?

But may sinners vanish from the earth and the wicked be no more. Praise the Lord, my soul. Praise the Lord .
