Daily Devo – Blind Devotion

“They will say, ‘The fruit you longed for is gone from you. All your luxury and splendor have vanished, never to be recovered.’ The merchants who sold these things and gained their wealth from her will stand far off, terrified at her torment. They will weep and mourn and cry out: “‘Woe! Woe to you, great city, dressed in fine linen, purple and scarlet, and glittering with gold, precious stones and pearls! In one hour such great wealth has been brought to ruin!’ “Every sea captain, and all who travel by ship, the sailors, and all who earn their living from the sea, will stand far off.
Revelation 18:14-17//

The mourning of Babylon shows us that people will continue to rely on wealth instead of God to the very end. And they will have more grief for the wealth lost and how it will affect them, rather than the loss of lives in the city. I wonder if the same will be true of Seattle when it inevitably falls before the end of time?

Daily Devo – Blind Devotion

The fifth angel poured out his bowl on the throne of the beast, and its kingdom was plunged into darkness. People gnawed their tongues in agony and cursed the God of heaven because of their pains and their sores, but they refused to repent of what they had done.
Revelation 16:10-11//

God offers sinners the chance to repent to the very end – and to the very end, despite Him having revealed Himself, they refuse. While it seems impossible, I need to remember that there are some people so sinful that they would rather spend eternity in Hell than to serve our loving Father.

Who will not fear you, Lord, and bring glory to your name? For you alone are holy. All nations will come and worship before you, for your righteous acts have been revealed.”
Revelation 15:4//

Here we see the final revealing – the revelation – of God. There will be no more doubt. ALL people will worship Him. I can’t help but feel some vindication knowing that this will come to fruition. How about you?

One of the heads of the beast seemed to have had a fatal wound, but the fatal wound had been healed. The whole world was filled with wonder and followed the beast.
Revelation 13:3//

At some point, someone or something tries to kill the beast. We are not told when this happened, but it is seemingly before it appears to man.

The rest of mankind who were not killed by these plagues still did not repent of the work of their hands; they did not stop worshiping demons, and idols of gold, silver, bronze, stone and wood—idols that cannot see or hear or walk. Nor did they repent of their murders, their magic arts, their sexual immorality or their thefts.
Revelation 9:20-21//

No matter how many opportunities are given to them, some people will never repent.
