Daily Devo – Blind Devotion

Genesis 27:32-35 His father Isaac asked him, “Who are you?” “I am your son,” he answered, “your firstborn, Esau.” Isaac trembled violently and said, “Who was it, then, that hunted game and brought it to me? I ate it just before you came and I blessed him—and indeed he will be blessed!” When Esau heard his father’s words, he burst out with a loud and bitter cry and said to his father, “Bless me—me too, my father!” But he said, “Your brother came deceitfully and took your blessing.”//
Jacob was a jerk. If god’s chosen people came from him, then God can work in me also.

Genesis 26:14-15 He had so many flocks and herds and servants that the Philistines envied him. So all the wells that his father’s servants had dug in the time of his father Abraham, the Philistines stopped up, filling them with earth.//
Envy is more than mere jealousy. It is wanting someone else’s possessions to the point where you don’t want that person to have them. Lord, help me to not be envious of others.

Genesis 22:11-12 But the angel of the Lord called out to him from heaven, “Abraham! Abraham!” “Here I am,” he replied. “Do not lay a hand on the boy,” he said. “Do not do anything to him. Now I know that you fear God, because you have not withheld from me your son, your only son.”//
Apparently, the “the angel of the Lord” is a reference to part of the trinity.
