Now if we died with Christ, we believe that we will also live with him. For we know that since Christ was raised from the dead, he cannot die again; death no longer has mastery over him.
Thank You, Jesus, for taking the sting out of death!
But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.
God loved us even we did not yet know we should love Him.
Yet he did not waver through unbelief regarding the promise of God, but was strengthened in his faith and gave glory to God, being fully persuaded that God had power to do what he had promised.
Lord, help me to be unwavering in my faith.
for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, and all are justified freely by his grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus.
ALL have sinned. But only those who repent and accept His forgiveness will be saved.
All who sin apart from the law will also perish apart from the law, and all who sin under the law will be judged by the law.
Without Jesus, there is no escape from judgment.
Therefore God gave them over in the sinful desires of their hearts to sexual impurity for the degrading of their bodies with one another. They exchanged the truth about God for a lie, and worshiped and served created things rather than the Creator—who is forever praised. Amen.
Those who don’t repent and continue to have sex outside of marriage between a man and a woman have been given over to their sinful desires, as they worship the human body and idolize pleasure over God. Lord, help me to never exchange You for this lie.
They arranged to meet Paul on a certain day, and came in even larger numbers to the place where he was staying. He witnessed to them from morning till evening, explaining about the kingdom of God, and from the Law of Moses and from the Prophets he tried to persuade them about Jesus. Some were convinced by what he said, but others would not believe.
Some believe, “but others would not.” Unfortunately, there is a consistent theme in the New Testament where some choose not to believe.
After they had gone a long time without food, Paul stood up before them and said: “Men, you should have taken my advice not to sail from Crete; then you would have spared yourselves this damage and loss.
In the midst of a disastrous and dangerous life-threatening situation, Paul stands up as a prisoner and says, “I told you so.” This underscores the boldness of his personality, but also establishes that his advice is often correct, including his persuasiveness regarding following Christ.
Why should any of you consider it incredible that God raises the dead?
True, reasonable, and pointed. It is the same question that all without faith do not accept.
When his accusers got up to speak, they did not charge him with any of the crimes I had expected. Instead, they had some points of dispute with him about their own religion and about a dead man named Jesus who Paul claimed was alive.
Even contemporaries of Jesus refused to believe He had risen from the dead. Paul had everything to lose. The truth is easily spotted in the motive of its holder.
