The acts of the flesh are obvious: sexual immorality, impurity and debauchery; idolatry and witchcraft; hatred, discord, jealousy, fits of rage, selfish ambition, dissensions, factions and envy; drunkenness, orgies, and the like. I warn you, as I did before, that those who live like this will not inherit the kingdom of God.
They are “obvious.” Lord, make that true in our country today.
But now that you know God—or rather are known by God —how is it that you are turning back to those weak and miserable forces? Do you wish to be enslaved by them all over again?
Lord, keep me from trying to re-enslave myself to sin.
Is the law, therefore, opposed to the promises of God? Absolutely not! For if a law had been given that could impart life, then righteousness would certainly have come by the law. But Scripture has locked up everything under the control of sin, so that what was promised, being given through faith in Jesus Christ, might be given to those who believe.
This is a well defined lynch pin between the Old and New Testament.
I do not set aside the grace of God, for if righteousness could be gained through the law, Christ died for nothing!”
It matters not what we do, but what we believe that justifies us. For it is through faith that we are saved; not our works.
Grace and peace to you from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ, who gave himself for our sins to rescue us from the present evil age, according to the will of our God and Father,
Lord, thank You for saving us from this present evil age. Please continue to protect Your sons and daughters throughout what is and what is to come.
Examine yourselves to see whether you are in the faith; test yourselves. Do you not realize that Christ Jesus is in you —unless, of course, you fail the test?
2 Corinthians 13:5//
Lord, remind me to examine myself.
or because of these surpassingly great revelations. Therefore, in order to keep me from becoming conceited, I was given a thorn in my flesh, a messenger of Satan, to torment me.
2 Corinthians 12:7//
One of the reasons God may give me a weakness is because I would be even more sinful without it.
And no wonder, for Satan himself masquerades as an angel of light. It is not surprising, then, if his servants also masquerade as servants of righteousness. Their end will be what their actions deserve.
2 Corinthians 11:14-15//
People and things that appear to be good can be evil instead. Lord, help me to properly test with the Holy Spirit.
The weapons we fight with are not the weapons of the world. On the contrary, they have divine power to demolish strongholds.
2 Corinthians 10:4//
I need to remember how strong prayer is.
And God is able to bless you abundantly, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work.
2 Corinthians 9:8//
Lord, as we face uncertainty, remind me to take comfort in the fact that You are able and willing to provide everything we need.
