Unless the Lord builds the house, the builders labor in vain. Unless the Lord watches over the city, the guards stand watch in vain.

Without the Lord approving and being part of the process of our labors, our efforts, our relationships, and all facets of our life; we push forward in futility. May I seek the Lord’s blessing in all that I do and with all people.

When the Lord restored the fortunes of Zion, we were like those who dreamed.
Psalm 126:1//

The Lord’s restoration can work miracles in our lives; far beyond what we can dream.

Those who trust in the Lord are like Mount Zion, which cannot be shaken but endures forever.
Psalm 125:1//

My level of stability is impacted by the amount of trust I have in the Lord.

I lift up my eyes to the mountains— where does my help come from? My help comes from the Lord, the Maker of heaven and earth.
Psalm 121:1-2//

My help doesn’t come from money. It doesn’t come from the government. It comes from God and God alone.

What will he do to you, and what more besides, you deceitful tongue? He will punish you with a warrior’s sharp arrows, with burning coals of the broom bush.
Psalm 120:3-4//

Deceitful ness can literally kill, but it can also hurt worse than a constant abrasive fire on one’s skin. Lord, make me a truthful person.

Blessed are those whose ways are blameless, who walk according to the law of the Lord. Blessed are those who keep his statutes and seek him with all their heart— they do no wrong but follow his ways.

Lord, help me to follow Your ways and make my heart and mind want to seek You always.

It is better to take refuge in the Lord than to trust in humans. It is better to take refuge in the Lord than to trust in princes.
Psalm 118:8-9//

When danger and trouble come my way; when I need comfort, shelter, and a rest from life’s storms – do I run to people and governments? Or, do I turn to the Lord?

Praise the Lord, all you nations; extol him, all you peoples. For great is his love toward us, and the faithfulness of the Lord endures forever. Praise the Lord.
Psalm 117:1-2//

Recognizing the Lord’s love and faithfulness toward me and in my life will lead me to greatly praise Him.

The cords of death entangled me, the anguish of the grave came over me; I was overcome by distress and sorrow. Then I called on the name of the Lord: “ Lord , save me! ”
Psalm 116:3-4//

When I am burdened, weary, and weak – I need not ask the Lord “why.” Rather, I need to cry out to Him to save me.
